Who do you miss?

I recently had a response to this blog from an old student. Richard wanted to tell his old classmates hi. Cool. I love hearing from old students. A few years ago I got a message from a student I had my first year of teaching. That was great! So it got me to thinking.

If you are an alumnus just checking out the school website, leave a message here. Tell us what you are up to. What became of you. How are you doing. Those types of things. We'd love to hear from you.

If you are a present student, leave a message too. A lot of classmates have moved from the district or graduated or choiced into other schools. Tell us whom you miss. A favorite memory about a favorite friend now not in the class. We'd love to read those stories too.

Day 1

Welcome back students!

There will some changes this year with this blog. It will no longer be used to post assignments. I will be using class wikis to do that. This blog, instead, will be used to post comments about the school year.

So, how do you feel about the upcoming schoolyear? I always get excited this time of year. But to really get into the mood, I watched Mr. Holland's Opus over the weekend. Except for the corny ending, it is the best depiction of teaching that I have seen. But those of you who have had me over the years, you know a LOVE corny movies.

I ordered a new novel to read this year. The Old Man and the Sea. Lots of symbolism that I also love. Hemingway is my favorite author too. Not too many other changes. A few new students. Not many. Several new teachers. They all seem pretty cool. I have less hair. Is that possible? A few extra pounds too.

So this is what the blog is about. Just thoughts. Nothing profound. Not yet. I get in my moods. Join in. Create a dialog. You know me; I like to just talk. This is just another way to gab.

See ya in class!
